Meet The Iveco eMoovy, An Electric Van Built For Work, Play, And Everything In Between
by AutoExpert | 23 September, 2024
You know, Iveco’s new eMoovy? It's pretty wild, right? This electric van thing they've teamed up with Hyundai on—yeah, it's like the future of light commercial vehicles or something. However, it's difficult to overlook the fact that it resembles a Hyundai Staria, however, with a few minor modifications.
Anyway, they’ve dubbed it the "eMoovy" and apparently, it's the first electric LCV in the 2.5-3.5 ton segment, at least in Europe. I guess someone’s got to be first. So, the powertrain is directly derived from Hyundai's larger electric SUVs.
Either way, it’s got a decent 215 horsepower from a single electric motor—nothing too crazy, but enough, right? And you get two battery options—63 kWh or 76 kWh—which is kind of cool. The larger one gives you, like, 320 km (or 199 miles). Plus, with 800V charging technology, you can add 100 km of range in just 10 minutes.
That’s about the time it takes to down a coffee on your break. Super handy. Now, here’s the kicker: it’s not just a plain delivery van. The back of the eMoovy? Totally customizable. Box van? Pickup? Whatever. You name it. Oh, and the max load capacity is, like, 10 cubic meters, with a payload of 1.5 tons, which is decent for a van this size.
Do you know that loading vans can be challenging at times? This one’s got air suspension, so it can lower the rear end by 60mm to make life easier. Inside, it’s basically the same as the Hyundai version. Digital cockpit, fancy heated seats, ventilated eco-leather... the works. They didn't skimp on the interior. Also, all the safety tech you’d expect, like adaptive cruise and lane assist, is there.
Iveco showed it off at the IAA Transportation show, and they’re hinting that this is just the beginning. They're talking about larger electric trucks down the line, so that could be interesting.
