Huawei and Chery’s Joint Venture Promises an Electric Car that Outshines Tesla's Model S: Introducing the Luxeed S7

In a collaborative venture between tech giant Huawei and automotive manufacturer Chery, Luxeed is ready to raise the curtain on its first-ever production car, the S7. Slated for a November reveal, the electric sedan is poised to compete directly with the Tesla Model S, and if Huawei's confidence is any indication, even surpass it in several key aspects.
The foundation for the Luxeed S7 is Chery's E0X platform, equipped with dual electric motors. While specific details about the car's price and features are yet to be announced, Richard Yu Chengdong, who heads Huawei’s automotive division, has made it clear that they are targeting Tesla’s Model S for competition.
"The S7 is scheduled for a late November premiere and promises to excel in multiple dimensions, setting it apart from the Model S," Chengdong noted.
As China's electric vehicle market heats up, Luxeed has already garnered high expectations, thanks in part to the synergistic partnership between Huawei's tech-savvy influence and Chery's robust manufacturing capabilities. Shanghai-based auto analyst Gao Shen reflects this sentiment, stating, "This collaboration brings together Chery’s automotive prowess and Huawei’s technological expertise, making Luxeed a brand to watch."
The brand also plays a pivotal role in Huawei's broader automotive strategy. Apart from Luxeed, Huawei already markets vehicles under the Aito brand in partnership with Seres. Additionally, the company is a supplier for Arcfox and Avatar Technology, providing an array of advanced components like LiDAR sensors and chips.
When it comes to the tech specs, the Luxeed S7 won't skimp. It will feature Huawei’s new HarmonyOS 4, ensuring a high level of connectivity. The vehicle is also expected to sport a CATL-sourced battery, allowing for an impressive range of up to 435 miles. Further elevating its advanced features, the car will incorporate Huawei's ADS 2.0 intelligent driving system, complete with roof-mounted LiDAR, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 11 HD cameras, and 3 millimeter-wave radars.
