How about a Classic Mini Converted to Electric Power with a Complete Kit
by AutoExpert | 5 November, 2020
It’s possible now to turn your Mini into a 2020s super-cool retro EV spec the Swindon Powertrain Classic Mini Kit.
What if the urban cool of a Honda e, could be adjusted into a more authentically retro? For a starting price of £10,620, you can now buy a ready-made motor assembly that drops straight into the classic Rover Mini.
The Swindon Powertrain Classic Mini Kit (SP), has a 70kg HPD E Powertrain setup mounted to a copycat original Mini front subframe and brackets specifically designed for this build. The new Mini’s power output would be 80kW with a short-term peak of 120kW. At least we know that Honda e puts out 100kW.
SP specs are purpose-designed for the Mini chassis. A small-sounding 12kWh battery designed for urban use could give an average of 70 miles per charge.
The EV conversion will cost you between £22,253+VAT and £26,703. Funny thing that a brand-new Honda e is actually £43 cheaper after its government grant.
So, would you like an electrifying classic Mini?
