Hercules Electric Vehicles, a Detroit-based firm, has commissioned Italian design house Pininfarina to create an all-electric pickup truck.
Alpha will be Hercules' first vehicle, and a few concept sketches have been shown. The cooperation has been kept under wraps, but Pininfarina is expected to design the Alpha, as well as several additional vehicles for the automaker.
“With over 90 years of experience designing vehicles for Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo, Pininfarina is the world's top creator of performance and luxury automotive products. Hercules founder and CEO James Breyer declared: "We wanted to engage the finest to produce a really unique and differentiated product in our Alpha."
Founded in 2018, Hercules Electric Vehicles hopes to begin the production of alpha pickups in 2022. Breyer has a wealth of experience in the car business and has served as the lead drive development engineer for Chevrolet Spark and lead powertrain development engineer for Chevrolet Volt, however, you may not have ever heard of the company before.
Giuseppe Bonollo, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Pininfarina, stated "Pininfarina was always at the forefront of mobility." The Hercules Alpha will be developed based on the Nissan Titan but it will employ its exclusive powertrain technology and pump up to 1000-hp.
