GAC Aion Hyper SSR: The First Fully-Electric Supercar From China
by AutoExpert | 17 September, 2022
The Aion Hyper SSR is a brand-new offering from GAC Aion, a Chinese carmaker. The all-electric two-door Aion Hyper SSR reportedly accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, making it the first supercar in the country.
In 2020, the Chinese company's Enpulse Concept hinted at the Aion Hyper SSR for the first time. As such, the final product will be available in two distinct variations.
The first will supposedly have rear-wheel drive and 1,225 horsepower. For enhanced acceleration and traction, the Hyper SSR Ultimate distributes that power throughout all four tire patches. The 0-60 sprint will take the Ultimate just 1.9 seconds.
The cabin of the Aion Hyper SSR is already tempting us to buy it. Inside, you'll find a central infotainment system that is 14.6 inches in size and an 8.8-inch driver information display.
Another astounding fact about the fully electric Aion Hyper SSR is that the company claims it will cost 1.68M yuan, or around $240,000. The price of the rear-wheel drive model is considerably lower, coming in at just 1.28 yuan, or around $183,000. However, the supercar hasn't been approved for sale in the United States or any other market outside of China. In late 2023, GAC will begin delivering the Aion to Chinese customers.
