From Past To Future: DS Automobiles' New Electric Flagship Draws On Citroen DS Legacy

With intentions to progressively incorporate certain design features throughout its portfolio, DS Automobiles is now looking to the legendary Citroen DS as inspiration for its next flagship electric vehicle.
The CEO of DS Automobiles, Olivier François, who is also the CEO of Fiat and the chief marketing officer of Stellantis, made the news.
According to François, DS Automobiles is a new brand with a rich history that is trying to separate itself from the Stellantis group's mainstream offerings by capitalizing on its background. A flagship model that draws design cues from the legendary DS from the 1950s will spearhead the brand's next electric-centric adventure. “There are a few cars in automotive history that have become iconic because they are extremely aerodynamic,” he told Auto Express.
“The UK may have had the Jaguar E-Type, but for sure, the DS models of the sixties and seventies were exactly that. They had this incredibly iconic look, an iconic design that everyone recognized, everyone loved, and everyone remembered,” the CEO stated.
"The pure DS should be large, expensive, and amazing," François said, further describing the new model. “We can do the sensual, curvy, extremely inspiring cars that are very aerodynamic and very French—the art of travel. Soon, I’ll show you.”
