Ford F-150 Raptor Boasts 720 HP - RAM TRX Gets Left Behind
by AutoExpert | 22 December, 2023
The wait is finally over, as the Ford F-150 Raptor's power gets unveiled. It's no less than 720 HP, with a torque of 868 Nm. Now that's way more than what its main competitor, Ram TRX has ever dreamed of.
Sure, Ram TRX's 700 HP is no little thing, but why did the engineers settle for only this figure and didn't try to get more out of that engine? But let's leave the engineers to think about it and focus on the Ford F-150 Raptor now.
Some badmouths may say that the additional 20 HP is no big thing, but it still puts Ram ahead of TRX. The power comes from a supercharged V8 engine with a capacity of 5.2 liters. The secret to the extra power comes from better calibration and reduced inlet losses. Easy peasy, right? Besides this, the extra 20 HP gives the Raptor an enhanced torque curve.
But power isn't all that the Ford F-150 Raptor comes with. It has some other interesting tweaks as well, like 37-inch all-terrain tires, 24-inch coil springs, upgraded Fox Dual Live Valve shocks, and others.
It's a big leap from the original Raptor, which ran on a 5.4-liter V8 and delivered as "little" as 310 HP. The alternative was a 6.2-liter V8 with 411 HP onboard.
Price tags are also increasing, with a little less than USD 80k for the base model and almost USD 112k for the V8 one.
