For 2024, The Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Receives An Inline-Six Diesel Engine
by AutoExpert | 30 March, 2023
It's good to hear that the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 will be equipped with a 3.0-liter Duramax engine for the 2024 model year. This engine is an inline-six and can generate up to 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque, which makes it suitable for off-road driving.
Moreover, the Silverado ZR2 will be the only light-duty off-road truck in its category to offer diesel power. Additionally, Chevrolet has given a new name to the turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine, calling it TurboMax.
While this engine's power output remains the same, producing 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque, the company's assistant chief engineer, Kevin Luchansky, stated that the TurboMax name represents the engine's modern engineering, manufacturing, and controls, thereby putting to rest any doubts about turbocharged engines from the past.
Apart from the changes to the engines and the color palette, there are a few other updates for the 2024 Silverado. Chevrolet is offering a Black Appearance Package for some models, including the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss, and ZR2, while the High Country trim level now comes with adaptive cruise control as standard. Additionally, the High Country is also available in a new Midnight Edition, which includes power-retractable black side steps with LED lighting for added luxury.
