Enthusiasts Can Now Take Their Porsche 911s To The Arctic
by AutoExpert | 6 November, 2023
Kalmar Beyond Adventure makes it possible to achieve a lifelong fantasy and drive a Porsche 911 over snow and ice in the Arctic Circle. During the month of January, this tour operator is teaming up with Kalmar Automotive, a Porsche 911 modification specialist, to provide an unforgettable driving adventure in Rovaniemi.
These off-site competitions will use the rally, super, and rallycross stages that World Rally Championship teams use for practice.
Porsche 911 cars from the 964 and 993 generations, as well as the water-cooled 996 generation, will be available to participants and adapted to be pushed to their utmost on the ice terrain. A Cayman R, likewise modified by Kalmar, is available for use by visitors.
These Porsche 911s have competition-grade suspension, sports seats, safety belts, roll cages, and underbody protection and are lighter than the original models. All of them have manual gearboxes, and studded tires that meet the requirements of the World Rally Championship.
There are three individual options to choose from. The first is a two-day program called Arctic Control, during which students are taught how to navigate icy roads by professionals like rally legend Marcus Grönholm. The Arctic Race program is designed to take experienced drivers to the next level by teaching them how to read rally pace notes, among other things.
For those wishing for a more specialized experience, Kalmar also provides an Arctic Team program. Each participant receives personalized attention from a trained chef while staying in the exclusive Glass Resort Premium Lodge. Each tour spans four days and includes two seven-hour driving days, making it an unparalleled adventure for Porsche and driving fans.
