Dallara Stradale And EXP Receive IR8 Tribute Editions
by AutoExpert | 16 February, 2023
In 1998, Eddie Cheever drove the Dallara IR8 to its first victory in the Indianapolis 500. To commemorate this achievement 25 years later, Dallara is releasing a limited-edition livery for the Stradale and EXP models. That's why the company collaborated with the BorromeodeSilva design studio to create a special livery for the Stradale and EXP.
The design includes 23 stars that represent Dallara's victories at the Indy 500, as well as the XXV symbols to mark the 25 years since the victory. The interior of the limited-edition vehicles has dark grey Alcantara seats, custom dashboard graphics, and yellow paddle shifters.
For 2023, Dallara has not only created a limited-edition livery for its Stradale, but it has also made performance enhancements to the vehicle. The upgrades include a new AMT robotized gearbox system derived from the one in the EXP, which is expected to significantly reduce shift times and improve the car's acoustic and dynamic comfort. Additionally, Dallara has introduced a new braking system and intercooler, which have undergone months of track development.
The turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine powers the Stradale, which is Dallara's inaugural road car, producing 400 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The car's rear wheels receive the power and can allegedly accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 3.25 seconds. The EXP is a modified version of the Stradale designed specifically for track use. While it shares the carbon-fiber monocoque of the Stradale, the EXP does not have a roof. Dallara made changes to the design to enhance the car's downforce, generating a significant 2,755 pounds at its top speed of 180 mph. This speed is faster than the Stradale, which has a limit of 165 mph.
Both Dallara vehicles have a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, but the EXP's engine produces a higher output of 492 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Dallara will only produce 25 units of the Stradale and EXP with the special limited-edition livery. Customers who choose the "All-American" package will get an opportunity to experience the Indianapolis 500 race and "feel like Americans."
