Customer Concerns Rise Over Pedal Box And Floor Mat Compatibility In Rivian's Latest Models

The new and improved R1S and R1T models from Rivian have many enhancements. The pedal box modification received particular attention. One customer had a bitter experience installing rubber floor mats designed for the original R1.
We're talking about the "All Weather" mats that Rivian sells on their own. Each of the four rows of seats in the vehicle comes with its own mat, making a total of four. As an important note, Rivian specifies on their website that they are "compatible with Gen1 vehicles only."
The reason for this is that, according to a user on RivianForums, second-generation R1 series accelerators can occasionally become trapped on the mat. “We quickly got on the highway after delivery and… well… I floored the accelerator… as one does with a very powerful vehicle,” they wrote.
“The accelerator got stuck behind the mat and the car quickly accelerated unintentionally.”
“The Gen2 has a small bump on the floor right in front of the accelerator. The mat was correctly installed but it’s not of the right size for the Gen2. The carpet mat is smaller to avoid the bump on the floor,” they went on to say.
Compared to the rubber mat, the standard carpeted mat seems completely different in the pictures. Given the noticeable size difference, it's easy to understand how the pedal could jam. It would be wonderful if Rivian could weigh in on it.
