Citroen C4 Cactus Thrives in South America, Boasting a Bigger Infotainment Experience

The Citroen C4 Cactus model continues its presence in South America, despite its discontinuation in Europe, now boasting an enhanced infotainment system. The model, being manufactured in Brazil since 2018, showcases a handful of unique features distinct from the discontinued European model.

While the C4 Cactus was phased out in Europe, South America still retains the model with a number of updates slated for 2024. Some notable changes from the European version include the addition of roof rails, an increase in ground clearance, a more traditional digital instrument cluster, and adjustable rear windows as opposed to the fixed windows in the European model.

In its 2024 update, the C4 Cactus comes with new choices for 16 and 17-inch alloy wheels. Orange Pearl accents adorning the fog lights and airbumps provide a touch of flair, echoing the C-pillar stickers and line beneath the C4 inscription on the tailgate.

Regarding the infotainment system, the highlight is a newly added 10-inch touchscreen interface for the Citroen Connect, compatible with both Android Auto (wired) and Apple CarPlay (wireless). To further enhance user experience, a wireless charging pad, three additional USB ports (two at the front and one at the back), a spacious storage compartment beneath the central armrest, and new fabric upholstery for the seats have been introduced. The car also comes standard with automatic air conditioning, a keyless entry and start/stop system, light off-roading Grip Control selector, six airbags, among other features.

The engine options remain unchanged, as the stringent emission regulations in Europe are not applicable in South America. The top-tier turbocharged 1.6-liter THP petrol engine delivers a power output of 173 hp (129 kW / 175 PS), enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds, with a maximum speed of 212 km/h. It's worth noting that the C4 Cactus is among the few surviving models built on the older PSA PF1 architecture, also seen in the European C3 supermini and the C3 Aircross and Opel Crossland B-SUVs.

The 2024 Citroen C4 Cactus starts at a price of 106,990 Brazilian Real ($21,813) or 7,937,800 Argentinian Pesos ($30,423) based on the specific market, indicating a slight decrease in cost compared to its earlier version.
