Caruna Spider May Have Escaped Your Attention: There Was Only One Built!

Since their inception, supercars have had a distinct personality, created for high performance and futuristic aesthetics. Even though wealthy consumers are always willing to fork out large sums of money to be the first to own a new supercar, not all models are as popular. To put that in context, Carrosserie Caruna AG created the Caruna Spider, a high-performance sports automobile.
Located in Sweden, the business focused on customizing automobiles to meet the needs of individual consumers. Whether the Caruna Spider was intended to be a one-off show car or the workshop's engineers were working on a prototype for a model that would revolutionize the segment, we will likely never know.
In any case, Caruna Spider debuted at the 1973 Geneva Motor Show after being built. It's a shame the car didn't get more attention because no more were built because of the lack of demand. The frame, suspension, and engine for the Caruna Spider were all taken from a Porsche 914. Carrosserie Caruna AG came up with the design, and it still appears odd now.
The bodywork was done by tuners as well, with plastic body panels. A 99-hp, 160 lb-ft of torque four-cylinder petrol engine sits beneath the hood. Moreover, Caruna Spider could sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.5 secs, with a top speed of 190 km/h. The car's performance is so meager that it doesn't deserve the supercar moniker.
The future of the supercar is still a mystery. In 1976, Caruna Spider was involved in a catastrophic collision, according to accounts, and needed more repairs. Subsequently, the originally green car was repainted white.
