BMW Series 7 Gets Rugged: An Off-Road Facelift with Rotham Flair
by AutoExpert | 22 February, 2024
A facelifted BMW Series 7, with off-road tires and Rotham livery is not something colloquial one would think about. And yet, here we are. This BMW is real. The BMW E65 Series 7 was announced during the carmaker's Chris Bangle design era in 2001.
The car’s shape didn’t lack any detractors back then, but the Hella quad lights and the two-inch suspension lift helped to clean its look. The vehicle rides on 18-inch wrapped-in Yokohama Geolanders wheels, offering it a luxury aesthetic.
This BMW E65 Series 7 comes from the e65overland Instagram account, with the first post flashed in June 2023 embodying a clean-looking auto with Rothman wrapping. It wore only tires and a roof rack then, while the Arcta tent came in later. While scrolling down the photos and videos, we learned that its rear-wheel-drive layout was kept.
Under the hood lies BMW's M57 turbocharged 3.0-liter I6 diesel with a modified exhaust setup, offering nearly 300 hp. Among other modifications are a limited-slip differential at the back and poly bushings at the front.
The most interesting part is the 555.555 km per video on January 2, and we suspect that the figures have slightly changed since then. We contacted the Instagram account and found out that the car is only with its second owner. Its transmission was retuned at 335.000 miles. For summer, long-travel coilovers are planned, which might enhance the sedan’s off-road capacities.
Currently, the vehicle lives its best life with regular adventures across Europe. We can’t wait to see what modifications will be attributed to this crazy BMW construction.
