All-New Inline-Four Motors Power The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and GLC 63 Coupe

Mercedes has just taken the wraps off the coupe versions of the 2024 AMG GLC 43 and 63 S E Performance editions, showcasing a notable shift under the hood. Instead of the traditional six- and eight-cylinder engines, these models now boast hybridized inline fours.
This change not only brings a boost in power but also marks a move towards better fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
Starting with the AMG GLC 43, its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, working in harmony with a mild-hybrid system, delivers a combined output of 416 hp. There's also a boost of 13 hp from the starter generator at lower engine speeds, complemented by 369 lb-ft of peak torque.
This power is distributed to all four wheels through a standard nine-speed transmission. The AMG GLC 43 can achieve an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph and sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds.
Stepping up to the GLC 63 S E Performance, we see a more robust version of the M139l 2.0L turbo four, churning out 469 hp. A 201-hp electric motor, a high-performance battery, and the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive further increase this power.
The result is a staggering total system output of 671 hp and an impressive peak torque of 752 lb-ft. In terms of speed, the GLC 63 S E Performance takes a mere 3.4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph.
It's worth noting that the coupe variants maintain the same chassis, suspension, and powertrains as the previously released AMG GLC models. Mercedes has yet to unveil the pricing and availability details for these exciting additions to their lineup.
