Acura Is Sending Four Racers To The Pikes Peak Climb
by AutoExpert | 16 June, 2023
Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled debut as the all-new Acura Integra takes on its first race ever at the 2023 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb! Honda also is introducing a TLX Type S and an experimental NSX designed by a brand new division.
Did you know that the NSX Type S was designed for ultimate aerodynamic performance? It was actually created by a skunkworks team called "Crazy New" that was founded by the Honda of America Racing Team (HART).
It's been crafted with active aerodynamics in mind, pushing the limits of what's possible in this exciting field. Not only that, but the car will also boast sleek carbon fiber bodywork complete with a front splitter and rear diffuser, designed to generate impressive levels of downforce. In addition, the decklid spoiler has a nifty feature: it can be rotated to decrease air resistance at high speeds and also act as an air brake when navigating corners. Named after a legendary Japanese mountain deity, the NSX Type S will be known as Yamabiko. Pikes Peak racer James Robinson will be behind the wheel.
Honda Performance Development (HPD) is bringing the heat with their Integra Type S, set to take the stage in the "Exhibition" division. There will be a unique wrap on it that was designed to commemorate the second season of Acura's own anime series, "Type S: Chiaki's Journey." A unique hood, splitter up front, swan-neck carbon fiber wing out back, Borla tailpipes, Titan 7 wheels, Yokohama Advan A005 tires, and more will round out the package. Loni Unser is all set to take the wheel of this magnificent car!
HART is fielding the second Integra in the competition. With Bilstein shocks, Eibach springs, an HPD TCA suspension kit, a Cusco Racing limited-slip differential, HRE forged wheels with Yokohama Advan A005 tires, HPD billet engine mounts, a Borla exhaust, an aero undercover, and an OMP racing seat and safety harness, this car is ready to compete in the Exhibition class as well. Acura engineer Paul Hubers will pilot the vehicle.
Acura engineer and Pikes Peak veteran Jordan Guitar will drive a tuned TLX Type S. The vehicle will have a carbon fiber hood, a composite front splitter, dive planes, a rear wing, a special suspension, and brake pads. It will ride on 19-inch HRE forged wheels shod with Yokohama Advan A005 tires. Acura has not disclosed the power output, but it will have a bigger turbocharger, an adjusted engine, and improved engine cooling. Mark your calendars for an exciting event happening on June 25!
