A LOOK BACK with Mercedes-Benz F-Cell Roadster!
by AllAutoExperts | 11 November, 2015
The impressive history of this Mercedes-Benz F-Cell Roadster concept starts in 2009 when over 150 students have joined forces to create it.
Most of the junior employees in auto mechatronics and other relevant domains have been included in this project, aiming to discover and develop alternative transmission systems, with the hands-on system.
The exterior design of the car is a blend of a multitude of cars from different eras. The impressive spoke wheels imitate the Benz Patent Motor Car from 1886. The elegant nosecone is repeating the modern Formula 1 cars.
The cabin comprises all sorts of influences, like carbon fiber seats covered in handcrafted leather, suspended on a wooden floor. A joystick is used to replace the regular steering wheel and pedals.
This controversial concept is powered by a fuel cell system, installed in the rear of the car. The power of this Mercedes is also impressive, but not in the way you expect it: the engine unity produces 1.6 hp, which offers a maximum speed of 25 km/h.
