Corvette arrived at Le Mans in 1960 and ran on the world stage for the first time. The great rider Briggs Cunningham joined the legendary endurance race with three Corvettes from 1960, with white and blue. The third won its category while the two collapsed.
Sixty years later, the Lingenfelter Performance Engineering is yet another white Corvette with blue stripes. Called the 60th anniversary of Lingenfelter Cunningham Corvette, it honors the win of 1960 while adding a little more strength to the punch of the C8 with its power.
This particular Corvette doesn't turn around in Le Mans but takes the 1960 C1 'Vettes look. The white C8 has twin blue stripes, with further blue trimming around the car. The big spoiler forms part of an update to the aero, and it is number three to celebrate John Fitch and Bob Grossman's 1960 Le Man's racing car. Modern counterparts of the old five-star racing wheels, but far wider, are the unusual HRE wheels. Also part of the scheme is a unique inside trim.
There are some notable changes behind the C8 engine cover. In addition to the special C8, Lingenfelter adds many performance components, starting with a sleek carbon intake manifold. A modified throttle body of 95 mm booms to the intake and the exhaust headers of Corsa intensify the loudness for C8. Lingenfelter is adding their front C8 lowering kit in the control and braking area.
All four corners are equipped with upgraded Alcon / RB brakes. The ultimate result is 600-hp, which is a significant improvement on the original C8, Cunningham Automotive says. For reasons which should be apparent, Cunningham Automobile also states only 60 automobiles will be constructed. They're not going to be cheap. as prices begin at $159,995.
