BYD has upgraded the 2025 BYD Seal with a new 800-volt system, replacing the previous 400-volt setup, making it a stronger competitor to the famous Tesla Model 3.
Though BYD has been mum on the exact amount it managed to boost the Seal's peak charging rate, the company did announce that it now takes only 25 minutes to charge from 10-80%, a significant decrease from the 37 minutes required by the previous model! It’s pretty impressive, right?
The 61.44 kWh pack and the 80.64 kWh pack are the two battery alternatives that will be available, with the former guaranteeing a CLTC range of 510 km (317 miles) and the latter of 650 km (404 miles), respectively. Like its predecessor, the base 2025 Seal will have a single 228 hp electric engine powering the back wheels. On the other hand, more robust RWD versions will supply 308 horsepower.
For those seeking top-tier performance, there's still an option available with 523 horsepower and dual motors. Additionally, BYD has fitted the EV's suspension with the newest version of its Disus-C adjustable dampers, which enhance stability, comfort, and handling. The carmaker has also enhanced the Seal's safety features, now offering an option to equip the vehicle with a roof-mounted LiDAR system.
This will enhance the semi-autonomous driving systems, provide high-speed and urban navigation on Autopilot, and enable Automated Valet Parking capabilities. Inside, the designers added a stylish new flat-bottom steering wheel with four spokes. Moreover, along with reshaping the dashboard and streamlining the center console, BYD has installed a new gloss black panel that spans the cabin's width.
