2022 Honda HR-V e:HEV European Version - Key Details Revealed

Honda has revealed key details ahead of the official launch this year of its  2022 HR-V e:HEV, the model planned to have an exclusive powertrain for its European version.  The all-electric e:HEV is powered by a combination of a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine and two electric motors, delivering a merged output of 129 horsepower and 253 Newton-meters of torque. Despite sharing the same architecture for the hybrid powertrain with a previous Jazz model, the new Honda is much more powerful.

The Europeans can opt for three main drive modes that come with the new hybrid powertrain. Chose freely between Sport, Normal, and Econ drive modes but notice that there is a  ‘B’ mode available through the gear selector for stronger regenerative braking. Honda promises that the e:HEV can pull off in solo EV mode and can easily switch to the petrol engine if you opt for a higher constant speed on highway drive.

The 2022 Honda HR-V interior got some renderings - an additional 35mm for the rear legroom, a rear Magic Seat layout allowing a fold flat, and flip-up seat functions. The new platform gives a hybrid Honda with a fuel tank mounted on the center for further combinations with the other packagings. This way, the HR-V has a more spacious cabin despite its coupe-inspired roofline.

The infotainment system brings a futuristic and faster 9-inch touchscreen display with a simplified and fully customizable interface for easier access. Also, the system comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto. Meanwhile, the new HR-V got an instrument binnacle hosting a 7-inch display to show the needed information on the vehicle’s driver-assistance systems.

The Honda Sensing suite of systems is also a feature present on the e:HEV model, which in this version avails wider, higher-definition monocular front camera and high-speed image processing chips, making it better than the previous camera and radar sensor combination. Its new adaptive cruise control monitors the steering angle and lateral G-force and comes with a low-speed following both the function and brake control. Additionally, systems, such as Blind Spot Information, Cross Traffic Monitor, and Hill Descent Control, are included.

2022 Honda HR-V e:HEV was scheduled to launch in Europe later this year. More details about the price will be announced before the debut.
