After selling more than 18 million Volkswagen Polo cars in 50 years, the German automaker decided to offer a mid-life refreshed car that combined the Mk8 Golf design with a few tech features found on the flagship Touareg SUV.

This is more a facelift with such limited visual changes done only to the car's lights and bumpers. The standard LED head and taillights are still present, but the facelifted variant ahs its the front units connected by the illuminated strip at the base of the radiator grille. You can even opt for an upgraded adaptive Matrix LED technology feature borrowed from the Touareg and Passat.

Also, you will find various assistance systems with IQ.Drive Travel Assist tag, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assistance. The interior features an optional climate control kit with touch-sensitive temperature buttons similar to those found on the Golf and ID.4. You can see the 8-inch digital instrument pack along with a tiny 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen for the basic cars and a 10.25-inches gauge cluster with a 9.2-inch media system.

As for the trim levels, the facelifted Polo is available with a Life, Style, sporty-looking R-Line, topping out the GTI versions. The hot hatch version of the new Polo gives us the R-Line chromed tailpipes. The GTi suggests a Polo launched with four engines - each one is a turbocharged 1.0-liter triple and every one turbocharged. The pre-facelift already had its test drives revealing slow and smooth transitions that you will not even see the difference between the first or the third gear.

Volkswagen is ready to launch the 94 horsepower and 109 horsepower turbocharged versions for its customers. The first Polo variant has its engine coupled to an optional five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG, but the 109 machine has a DSG-only version. If this version does not suit your favor, you can opt for a Compressed Natural Gas opted facelifted VW Polo.

The new Polo will arrive on the European markets by the end of this year, but no prices have been announced.
