20 Years Of Racing: Maserati Launches Limited MC20 Icona And Leggenda Models
by AutoExpert | 20 June, 2024
Maserati raced the MC12 exactly twenty years ago. This marked the company's first racing competition in over four decades, and to commemorate the event, Maserati has released two limited edition editions of the MC20: the MC20 Icona and the MC20 Leggenda.
Maserati specifically sourced a unique exterior finish from two vintage MC12s and applied it to each vehicle. A white and blue paint job adorns the Maserati MC20 Icona.
Like the MC12 Stradale, this one has Bianco Audace Matte on top and Blue Stradale at the bottom. The MC12 GT1 Vitaphone was an influence for the MC20 Leggenda, which has a striking contrast between its mostly black exterior and teal top. The carmaker names these hues as Digital Mint Matte and Nero Essenza.
Additionally, Maserati uses its Fuoriserie Personalization Program to equip these unique MC20s with a variety of trim enhancements. The Icona has white Maserati Fuoriserie emblems next to the back wheels, as well as fenders with an Italian flag-inspired design. The brake calipers are blue in color, while the center caps of the wheels feature blue tridents.
A carbon fiber engine cover conceals the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. The MC20 Leggenda has black wheels adorned with a mint-colored Trident. The bottom of the Maserati MC20 Leggenda prominently displays mint green Fuoriserie logos, while the upper part prominently displays yellow Trident and MC20 badges. Inside each MC20 are black monocoque racing seats with four-way adjustments.
The Icona seats are blue with contrast stitching, whereas the Leggenda seats are silver. In reality, the mechanics are your average MC20. It takes only 2.9 seconds for the Nettuno V-6, which produces 621 horsepower, to get from zero to sixty miles per hour while carrying just 3,300 pounds. You may not see these limited-edition versions again, as Maserati will manufacture only twenty of each trim.
