When 1968 Mercedes-Benz W108 Restomod Meets 2017 AMG C63
by AutoExpert | 28 June, 2021
Old Mercedes-Benz cars don’t really ever get old, as their design seems to find its place in any time and place. But what happens when old meets new? This restomod comes from The AMG_OG from Brisbane, Australia and it sure knows how to make an entrance.
Borrowing the interior and the driveline from a Mercedes-AMG C63S W205 from 2017, the restomod keeps the original 1968 black bodywork blended with lots of chrome on the window line, bumpers, headlight surround, and grille. The 19-inch five-spoke wheels come with the S badge on the tailgate, directly hinting at the fact that this is no regular W108.
The cabin is just as impressive, as there is a right-hand drive W205 now, alongside a steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara, bucket seats, and a modern infotainment screen.
Expect the unexpected when it comes to performances, as this “good old” Mercedes runs on a modern 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 AMG engine delivering 503 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. All figures get even better, courtesy of the custom calibration and upgraded downpipes, increasing the power to 514 hp.
All this has been completed by Deluxe Body Werx, with the help of engine work signed by Maranello Auto Services and some detailing from eTuners.
