Restorations of Ford F-Series trucks, Chevy Blazers, and Broncos are Velocity's specialty. Now, the Florida-based company has just put together a restoration kit for the 1967–1968 Ford Mustang convertible.

For starters, the company has added contemporary running gear, luxury amenities, and technology to its existing selection of period fastbacks, and it has now upgraded the drop-top model with the same upgrades.

Part of the restoration is a brand new 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine from Ford, which produces 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Owners will direct that power to the 9.25-inch rear axle with a 3.73:1 gearset using either the 10-speed automatic or the T56 six-speed manual gearbox. Borla mufflers and bespoke headers cool the engine, while the brand-new Mustang SPEC chassis boasts the latest technology.

This 1967–1968 model year is different from the original in that it has rack and pinion steering and a four-link rear axle with 11-inch disc brakes, Fox coilover suspension, and four piston calipers. The brakes use a Bosch Electric iBooster to simulate the sensation and effort of braking on a new automobile. The throwback 17-inch wheels are adorned with 255/45 ZR17 Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 tires, a 2024 update on the Magnum 500 rims that were available at the time.

Included in the basic equipment are the vented hood, sequential LED rear lights, and Shelby-style racing stripes (available as an option). There is also a Dakota Digital gauge pack, vintage air conditioning, and heating and ventilation options for the Procar buckets.

Future owners may choose between brown, tan, black, or cream for the convertible top system, which comes with new electric motors and hydraulics to match the choice of inside leather. The convertible option adds an additional $30,000 to the base price of the company's Signature Series fastbacks, which begin at $299,900.
