Toyota's Lunar Cruiser Will Influence Road Cars
by AutoExpert | 4 April, 2022
Toyota was the most sought car manufacturer in 2021. Customers have a multitude of options, from tiny, cost-effective solutions to advanced hydrogen-fueled vehicles. Toyota has set its sights on the moon after completing its mission on Earth.
Lunar Cruiser is a joint effort between Toyota and JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) to develop a pressurized rover. Meanwhile, Toyota claims that technologies created for lunar exploration may be used to build better automobiles and develop technologies for sustainable civilization and the planet.
Toyota has been slow to introduce completely electric cars, with the bZ4x crossover being the exception. However, with the Mirai and its innovative hydrogen-powered V8, Toyota has demonstrated that it is not willing to abandon alternative sources of energy.
"We will contribute to this endeavor by offering the reliability, durability, driving performance, and fuel cell technology that Toyota has cultivated through long years of vehicle development," Toyota said. On the other hand, Toyota does not divulge a lot of details. The carmaker has published a video that showcases the lunar rover's impressive features. The Small Pressurized Rover Prototype is its name.
According to Toyota, the moon's surface has a gravity of one-sixth that of Earth and suffers harsh temperatures. As a result, it must be a very capable vehicle.
