Toyota Announces The Multi-Functional Rangga Truck
by AutoExpert | 17 August, 2023
Toyota showcased an intriguing array of concepts at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, all centered around the new Rangga truck platform.
Derived from the IMV 0 (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) introduced in Thailand in December last year, the adventurous appearance of the Toyota Rangga remains almost intact, but with some minor tweaks.
Specifically, the carmaker unveiled four distinctive variants: the Mobile Cafe, Ambulance, EV Mobile Service Station, and Pace Car. To start with, the Mobile Cafe boasts side-opening rear sections, while the Ambulance incorporates an elevated roof to facilitate patient transportation. The EV Mobile Service Station is tailored to charge electric vehicles that run low on power. The Pace Car, geared for racing, showcases a lowered suspension, racing livery, a prominent splitter, and a rear spoiler, among other features.
These concepts serve as the foundation for the Toyota Rangga Concept Digimodz Contest, inviting participants to create digital renderings based on three themes: Business, Lifestyle, and Public Service. Custom bodykits, decals, wheels, and accessories can be added as long as the main bodywork, lights, and Toyota emblems are retained.
Winners of the contest will see their renderings transformed into mockups and presented at the Rangga's official launch. The top three proposals will evolve into 1:1 prototypes in collaboration with local tuners to be showcased at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024, where the ultimate winner will be announced.
Toyota Rangga is anticipated to offer turbodiesel, petrol, hybrid, and fully electric powertrain options. The production version is slated for market launch in 2024, beginning in Thailand and subsequently expanding to other markets. The Rangga's versatility and adaptability underscore Toyota's commitment to catering to diverse transportation needs.
