The Next Mercedes-AMG Sedan Will Produce More Than 1,000 HP

Mercedes-AMG is on the verge of introducing an exciting all-electric model to their lineup, set to be a remarkable alternative to the GT 63 4-Door Coupe. Unlike its hybrid sibling, the GT 63 S E Performance with 831 hp, this forthcoming electric offering is expected to pack even more punch.
What sets this new model apart is that Mercedes-AMG is developing it from the ground up, based on an innovative AMG.EV architecture tailored for manufacturing low-slung electric vehicles.
Yasa's axial-flux electric motors, which are capable of delivering impressive performance, will power these electric powerhouses. Each motor can churn out 480 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Pairing two of these motors would result in nearly 1,000 hp, while a three-motor setup could unleash over 1,400 hp!
While Mercedes-AMG remains tight-lipped about specific details, they offered a glimpse of an electric sedan last year with the Vision AMG Concept. It's believed that this concept closely previews the production model's size and shape. A critical feature of this new electric sedan will be its battery pack. Mercedes-AMG will use a slim battery pack with silicon anodes made by the American company Sila to maintain a low profile.
The AMG.EV platform will serve as the foundation for other models in the future, according to Robert Lesnik, Mercedes-Benz's head of exterior design. He hints at more AMG-specific electric vehicles, reaffirming that the Vision AMG is just the start of their electric journey. It's a thrilling time for enthusiasts of high-performance electric vehicles, with Mercedes-AMG joining the ranks of manufacturers delivering electrifying options.
