The 'Moderna' Is Next GTO Engineering project: An Echo of ‘60s Ferrari
by AutoExpert | 5 November, 2020
UK- based GTO Engineering is ambitious and wants to build from the ground a supercar that echoes the stylish Ferrari 250 SWB.
Codenamed ‘Moderna’, is planned to be “a sub-1000 kg sports car celebrating the best of Sixties motoring with modern and motorsport-derived engineering”. It’ll be with carbon fiber and aluminum body panels attached to the tubular steel space frame structure.
Moderna will have a quad-cam V12 developed in-house by GTO. It’ll have a fully independent suspension and bigger wheels allowing for the fitting of big brakes. This will be different from the original car’s rigid rear suspension setup with leaf springs.
As we’re used already, Moderna will also be different, with a high-level of customization. Different paint, trim choices, suspension, and gearbox options for customers to pick from sounds really promising.
It’s unknown yet when we’ll see completed cars, nor the price cost. Guessing from the 250 SWB revival £850,000 price, it will be ‘spendy’.
