In this part, we will overview 3 vehicles: Porsche Cayman GT4, Cadillac ATS-V, and Volkswagen Golf R

2016 Porsche Cayman GT4

Soon after the Cayman made its debut, some naysayers said that it deliberately has less power than a 911. We do not know how true those statements are but things are different in this version.

The 2016 Cayman has borrowed and engine from 911 Carrera, specifically a 3.8-liter flat-six that produces 385 hp and 310 Nm sent to a 6-speed manual transmission with limited-slip differential. The best part though is Cayman's suspension also borrowed for a 911, this time from GT3 for the front wheels and new knuckles and helper springs in the rear. It also features carbon-ceramic brakes, new front splitter and adjustable rear wing for better drag.

2016 Cadillac ATS-V

The ATS-V was designed for the purpose of taking the BMW M3 out of business. It has very light and stiff chassis. The power is supplied by a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 that unleashes 464 h and 445 lb-ft of torque and sends it to an 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission with no-lift, automatic-rev matching technology.

This Caddy runs on custom Michelin tires that together with adjustable magnetorheological dampers keep the grip high. It also features Brembo brakes and GM Performance Traction Management that offers 5 stability levels and traction control.

2015 Volkswagen Golf R

Many consider the GTI the sportiest model from Golf and they say the standard Golf lacks the power. Introducing Golf R that squeezes 290 hp and 280 Nm from a 2.0-liter turbo-four and sends the power to a 6-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The difficult part for Golf R engineers was to transform the front-wheel-drive Golf into an all-wheel-drive R version. Fortunately, they managed to do so with the help of Haldex center coupling and brake-based torque vectoring. In this version, you can also disable the stability and traction control which was something people were asking for.
