The Awaited 2022 Nissan Frontier: Nissan Starts Production Of Its New Midsize Truck
by AutoExpert | 22 July, 2021
Nissan Canton Vehicle Production Facility in Canton, Mississippi, where the Frontier has been made since 2012, is officially releasing 2022 Nissan Frontiers.
Frontier was once produced at Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee facility. Since its introduction as a 1998 model year pickup, has been a foundation of the compact-turned-midsize truck segment. We believe Nissan nailed the look of the new 2022 Nissan Frontier, but the real test is coming once these pickups start coming off the production line in large numbers and are put to the test in real-world scenarios.
A very good relationship between man and robots or cobots (collaborative robots), as Nissan puts them—transforms stacks of parts into varied trims of bold, futuristic Frontiers, as seen in video from the Canton assembly factory. From the basic trim to the off-road-oriented Pro-4X, all versions of Frontier appear to be looking great on the production line.
The 2022 Frontier is a huge upgrade to a truck that has remained essentially unchanged for the past 15 years. It has a new look and a more stylish interior, as well as a 310-hp 3.8-liter V-6 paired to a nine-speed automatic gearbox that Nissan debuted with the 2020 Frontier.
The refreshed and furious 2022 Frontier, free of staleness and defects, has its sights set on the midsize pack's pioneer: Toyota Tacoma. We have seen the 2022 Nissan Frontier in reality outside of a studio, but not on public roads. This will undoubtedly change soon. The start of construction means the new midsize pickup will be available in dealerships by the end of summer 2021.
