by AutoExpert | 27 February, 2024
Honestly, this is really great news. For the 2024 model year in China, the BYD Dolphin has been updated with new battery choices, a longer range, and a lower starting price.
Vitality is the base model of the 2024 Dolphin. It costs just 99,800 yuan, which is about $13,800. This electric car has a 32-kWh battery pack that lets it go 302 km (188 miles). Meanwhile, the front wheels are driven by a 94-hp (70-kW) motor.
It costs 112,800 yuan (about $15,600) and has a longer range for people who need it. When tested in China, it had a longer range of 420 km (261 miles) thanks to its 45 kWh battery. The 94-hp (70-kW) motor is also in this form. The Fashion is a more expensive choice that has the same specs as the Eco but some extra features. It starts at 119,800 yuan, which is about $16,600.
At the top of the 2024 Dolphin line is the Knight model, which costs 129,800 yuan ($18,030). The motor is stronger at 174 hp (130 kW), and the battery pack is 45 kWh. It has a range of 401 km (249 miles). There is also a 60-kWh battery option, but it hasn't been made public yet.
When it does come out, though, it should have a great range of 520 km (323 miles). Inside, the front seats are now heated, and there is a 50W wireless charging pad and a USB-C charging port. BYD has also given the Chinese model independent suspension, which is the same as what's in the European form. It's still not clear when the 2024 Dolphin will be sold in places other than China.
