Unplugged Performance, a well-known Tesla customizing company, has unveiled a heavily modified Model Y that is ideal for law enforcement tasks.
The Model Y has undergone several modifications and will soon join the South Pasadena, California, police fleet as part of the city's goal to switch its whole police vehicle portfolio to electric choices.
CEO Ben Schaffer reflected on Unplugged Performance's long journey of innovation on Tesla platforms, saying that the company was committed to pushing boundaries across various domains, including motorsports, consumer applications, and the recent foray into completely custom vehicles and fleet modifications for law enforcement.
The extensive modifications begin with a new front fascia that includes a sturdy steel bull bar and dynamic flashing blue and red LEDs. Fresh LED lights adorn the front quarter panels, and a stunning set of custom gloss black wheels wrapped in durable all-terrain tires round off the Model Y's improved looks.
Exterior changes include the traditional rooftop flashing lights as well as blue and red illumination on the side skirts. The inside has been extensively rebuilt to support police duties. Notably, the cabin has specific barriers that separate the police in the front row from the offenders in the second row.
