Sneak Peek: BMW i5 Touring - What to Expect?
by AutoExpert | 25 January, 2024
A couple of shots leaked on the internet feature the most-awaited BMW i5 Touring right before its global launch. The Touring version will land approximately 12 months after the sedan, and, although it might not look as elegant as the sedan does, it will certainly be more practical and even more popular.
The pictures featuring the i5 Touring appeared on Wilcoblok’s Instagram page. One thing is certain - the i5 Touring will look pretty identical to the combustion-powered Series 5 Touring. The i5 in question rocks an intriguing green shade, and it looks like the photo was stolen during an official photoshoot.
From the rear, i5 Touring’s design complements seamlessly the patent images that were published late last year. Compared to the sedan, we can see that the waistline curves upwards towards the rear of the car and ends with the trademark Hofmeister kink.
Unfortunately, it seems that the rear window of the i5 Touring can’t be opened apart from the tailgate. Moreover, we can’t brush off the feeling that the rear fascia looks a bit naked with its tiny spoiler running from the roof, and we think it would look much better if this spoiler was a little wider.
The tech details and spec figures for the i5 Touring and 5-Series Touring will remain a secret for some time to come, but we suppose that the first one will be served with the same single- and dual-motor setups as the sedan, while the 5-Series will bring to the table a variety of mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid four- and six-cylinder engines.
The chances are slim but not zero for the next M5 generation to be sold as a Touring with upwards of 789 hp.
