Revamped in Record Time: The Datsun 240Z's Carbon Fiber Transformation
by AutoExpert | 14 December, 2023
In the world of custom car builds, the Datsun 240Z holds a special place as the forerunner of the Nissan Z. However, a recent project from Thailand's KevMannz has propelled this classic into the limelight with a mind-blowing makeover.
Debuting at the 40th Thailand International Motor Expo, this Datsun 240Z sports a carbon fiber widebody kit that's nothing short of astonishing. And believe it or not, this entire transformation took just 26 days.
From design to development, KevMannz's craftsmanship is a testament to speed and skill. Forged carbon fiber, a material known for its strength and lightweight properties, forms the basis of this widebody kit, adding a touch of modernity to the classic silhouette.
The build includes custom front and rear lighting clusters, seamlessly integrating contemporary design with the vehicle's retro charm.
The car's aerodynamics are enhanced with a massive mesh grille for intercooler airflow, and the widebody wheel fenders feature air inlets and outlets, housing 18-inch five-spoke SSR wheels.
These are wrapped in high-performance tires - 265/35 at the front and 285/35 at the rear. For the brakes, it sports Nissan brakes upfront, while the rear boasts components from the iconic Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R.
The rear design doesn't disappoint, featuring retro circular taillights, a massive bumper, a diffuser, and twin exhaust tips. Inside, the sporty theme continues with forged carbon fiber seats and door panels, and an Alcantara dashboard adorned with orange stitching, offering a perfect blend of style and substance.
While details about the powertrain are still under wraps, the original Nissan L inline-six engine, with the right tuning, can deliver between 300 to 400 horsepower. Although there's still room for enhancements like a roll cage, this Nissan 240Z is already turning heads and looks track-ready.
In the realm of car restorations and custom builds, this Datsun 240Z stands as a remarkable example of how classic design can meet modern innovation, all achieved in a breathtakingly short span of time.
