Record Breaker In The Making: This BMW M2 Defies Limits

BMW’s M cars are born fast, but with the right upgrades, they evolve into something truly savage. Case in point: this absolutely wild M2 drag build pushing a staggering 1,500 horsepower!
The experts at R44 Performance and Tom Wrigley Performance in the UK crafted this beast, which is now on its way to the United States to compete for the title of the fastest BMW in the world. The journey to 1,500 horsepower started with a major transformation: turning this rear-wheel-drive coupe into an all-wheel-drive track weapon.
After sourcing the drivetrain from an M3 and enduring a whole lot of trial and error, the team pulled it off, giving this BMW M2 some serious grip to match its power. Speaking of power, the standard twin-turbo setup failed to meet the performance goals set here.
The team swapped it out for a massive single turbo system, completely rebuilt the engine with forged internals and sleeved cylinders, and added beefed-up cooling systems to keep it all running smoothly. To handle the brutal torque, they fully upgraded the eight-speed automatic gearbox. But this M2 isn’t just about brute force—it’s been fine-tuned for the drag strip. A roll cage and six-point harnesses ensure safety at high speeds, while a reworked suspension and custom Vossen wheels keep it planted.
The carbon-fiber body panels help shed weight, and yes, there’s even a parachute to rein it all in after a blistering run. Next March, this BMW M2 monster will debut at TX2K in Texas, a proving ground for the fastest street-legal drag cars. Fast, furious, and unapologetically over-the-top, this build sets a new benchmark for what an M2 can be.
