Praga, a Czech automaker that debuted its extreme R1 race vehicle in 2012, is now extending to the Australian and New Zealand areas. Praga Racing ANZ has been named as the company's first certified dealer in the two markets, with exclusive privileges to promote Praga and the R1.
Nik Manukyan, the proprietor of Euro MotorSport, a leading Australian prestige auto performance and luxury car repair provider, will be in charge of Praga Razing ANZ.
In the third quarter of this year, the Australian business will get its first two R1 vehicles, with plans to race these in a regional racing event in early 2022. It will also sell, service, and support race cars to anyone interested in racing them.
In a statement, Praga Cars president Tomas Kasparek said, "I am particularly glad that Praga Racing ANZ has entered this initial group of Praga Racing partnerships." “Their past demonstrates great client interactions in high-performance motoring as well as extensive racing expertise, putting them in a good position to deliver the R1 and Praga image to the standards we require.
Praga Cars plans to develop new dealerships in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America to expand outside Australia and New Zealand.
The Praga R1 is a mini-LMP racer with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder motor that produces 365 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque. While this may not seem like much, the R1 weighs only around 600 kg (1322 lbs), thus it has plenty of power.
