Nissan Wants To Make An Autonomous GT-R By 2020

Say what? Making normal cars autonomous is one thing, but making a beast like the GT-R drive on its own is, the least to say, frightening.
How will an autonomous GT-R behave? Will it drive properly? It has a lot of power under that bonnet. Nissan made it clear that they want to introduce this technology to 10 cars that will include their entire range by the year 2020.
Richard Candler of Nissan's Advanced Product Strategy, says that the process will be executed in 3 stages. They will start with lane assist and go to navigation around junctions and stoplights. Candler said that he will personally push the project so that by 2020 everyone could own any Nissan model that is autonomous.
He also explains that the driver will still be the most important part and that the technology will be implemented to make boring cars more fun and to also keep up with time.
He said that he plans on letting the GT-R take over and drive those famous Nurburgring laps while you sit and watch. How cool would that be!
