Nissan R32 Skyline Gets An Electric Makeover
by AutoExpert | 30 March, 2023
Nissan has released a preview of a unique electric version of the iconic R32 Skyline GT-R, known as the R32 EV. The car will not be mass-produced but rather is a one-off creation of a single engineer who was inspired by the original R32 Skyline and wanted to incorporate the latest electrification technology to make it even more thrilling. The teaser video, which can be found on Nissan Japan's website, provides a glimpse of the R32 EV.
Based on the video footage, it appears that the rear of the car remains unchanged from the combustion model and features a large exhaust. The combustion model is known for its impressive twin-turbocharged straight-six engine.
Nissan's upcoming electric vehicle, the R32 EV, is expected to incorporate chassis technology that could be similar to the four-wheel drive system used in the Nissan Ariya e-4orce electric crossover. The e-4orce system is said to utilize the same software and hardware configuration as the Attesta ET-S system, which was previously employed in the R35 Nissan GT-R.
In the wake of a recent teaser, it is worth noting that Nissan Nismo CEO Takao Katagiri revealed to Autocar in 2022 that his division was working on a dedicated electrified flagship model for the UK, anticipated to launch during this decade. It is possible that the development of this flagship could be influenced by the R32 EV as Nissan takes its first steps towards electrifying the iconic GT-R badge.
