A remarkable journey is underway as a Nissan Ariya embarks on an epic expedition from the 1823 Magnetic North Pole, having just crossed the equator in Quito, Ecuador, on its way to Antarctica.
Chris and Julie Ramsey, a husband and wife team, are in charge of this challenging pole-to-pole journey that covers more than 20,000 km. Their adventure began with a traverse of North and Central America.
In the United States, Nissan offers the standard Ariya with a starting price of $43,190. Equipped with an 87 kWh battery pack, this electric vehicle can travel up to 304 miles on a single charge. However, to handle diverse road conditions, this Ariya has been modified with features like lifted suspension, beefier wheels, wider wheel fenders, and a roof-mounted utility unit housing a drone for capturing breathtaking views.
The vehicle is also available with Nissan's e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, allowing the Ramseys to tackle challenging terrain. Their ultimate goal is to reach the South Pole in Antarctica by the end of the year, all while inspiring greater EV adoption to address the climate crisis.
Julie expressed, "It's been an incredible experience so far. Our Expedition Ariya captures the interest of so many people on our route, and we've been privileged to be hosted and helped by the kindest and most fascinating people, who all embrace the positivity and hope that Pole to Pole represents."
Chris added, "I set out to really push the limits of EVs and show the world just how capable and exciting they are. Our expedition Nissan Ariya has performed so well; it hasn't let us down, and it's created so much interest from people along the way."
