Ford Mustang GTD Spirit Of America: 815 HP And A Nod To Speed Legend Craig Breedlove

Ford has just unveiled the Mustang GTD Spirit of America, a new limited-edition trim that takes its already jaw-dropping performance to a more patriotic level. This special version celebrates American ingenuity and pays tribute to Craig Breedlove, the speed legend who broke the 500 mph and 600 mph barriers in the 1960s.
The Spirit of America stands out with a striking livery in Performance White, with Race Red and Lightning Blue racing stripes. This design nods to the iconic Mustang tribar and matches the colors of Breedlove’s racing overalls.
It comes loaded with the GTD Performance Package, featuring high-performance components like an extended front splitter, underbody flaps, a drag-reduction system, and 20-inch magnesium wheels. The car flaunts plenty of exposed carbon fiber, from the front splitter to the rear diffuser and the massive wing—now with a red-painted “Mustang” logo on the underside. Red brake calipers come standard, and you can choose between Race Red or carbon fiber wing mirror caps for an extra touch of flair.
Inside, Ford has upgraded the cabin with leather seats featuring Dinamica inserts, Race Red accents, and contrast stitching in Victory Blue. For those who want an extra dose of exclusivity, there’s an optional 3D-printed titanium trim package, including the shift ring, paddle shifters, and a unique dashboard badge.
The engine remains unchanged. The 5.2-liter supercharged V8 churns out an earth-shaking 815 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. Paired with semi-active suspension and carbon-ceramic brakes, the Spirit of America is just as track-ready as the Mustang GTD. Ford hasn’t revealed the price yet, but it’s safe to say it’ll top the GTD’s $325,000 starting price.
