Mazda 6e Electric Sedan: European Debut With Up To 345 Miles Of Range
by AutoExpert | 10 January, 2025
Mazda's new electric 6e looks like it could be a fantastic pick for anyone looking for a stylish EV. It’s the European version of the Chinese EZ-6, which made its debut last year. The Mazda 6e has a sleek design, with a unique LED-framed grille that flickers to show the battery's charge level while it's charging.
The frameless door glass, sporty roofline, and active rear spoiler all add to its dynamic look. And with rear-wheel drive, the 6e promises to deliver a fun driving experience to match its sporty design.
There are two battery options for the Mazda 6e. The smaller 68.8 kWh battery offers up to 300 miles (483 km) of range and can charge quickly at 200 kW, going from 10–80% in just 22 minutes. In 15 minutes, you can add about 145 miles (233 km) of range. The bigger 80 kWh battery boosts the range to 345 miles (555 km), but it takes a bit longer to charge—about 45 minutes to go from 10-80%.
If you go with the smaller battery, you'll get 255 hp (258 PS), which lets the 6e go from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.6 seconds. With the larger battery, it drops to 241 hp (244 PS), and the 0-62 time increases by a fraction.
Inside, the 6e has a 10.2-inch display in front of the driver, along with a head-up display, while the main controls are handled through a big 14.6-inch touchscreen. The Mazda 6e is set to launch in mainland Europe in the second half of 2025, with sales in the UK kicking off early the following year.
