by AutoExpert | 26 October, 2023
With the debut of the striking Mitsubishi D:X concept at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, Mitsubishi has set the stage for a potential Mitsubishi Delica of the future. This concept car, described as an electrified crossover MPV, combines the spacious interior of an MPV with the agile handling of an SUV.
The front design is inspired by Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield front fascia, but it is updated with a durable skid plate and LED daytime running lights. Mitsubishi D:X concept also has imposing fenders that emphasize its bulky and powerful appearance, and its striking copper paint color is a nod to glamping luxury.
A sizable roof-mounted storage box and striking T-shaped LED lighting at the front and back further enhance the exterior. Inside, the Mitsubishi D:X concept envisions a one-of-a-kind seating arrangement for six passengers in a 2+2+2 configuration. The front seats swivel, and there's a revolutionary translucent hood that works with VR.
We can also see a flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped in exquisite brown leather, with a central screen for important vehicle information, a digital instrument cluster, and an interactive AI-powered concierge. What's more, Yamaha assisted in the development of the D:X concept's audio system, which includes speakers embedded in the headrests.
Mitsubishi has equipped this concept with an eco-friendly PHEV as well as an electric 4WD system. Takao Kato, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors, stressed the D:X concept's importance in improving Mitsubishi's innovations, with the goal of contributing to a carbon-neutral society. Mitsubishi's goal with this concept is to deliver transportation solutions that arouse the adventurous spirit of drivers while also providing excitement to all passengers on board.
