For those who believe that high-end automobiles deserve high-end paints, Mazda has come up with Rhodium White Premium, an exclusive color. Soul Red Metallic and Machine Gray Premium were the first two colors developed utilizing Mazda's Takuminuri technology; now there's a third!
Similar to the aforementioned paints, Rhodium White Premium consists of three unique layers, beginning with a color layer, which Mazda claims give a super smooth white.
The paint experts at Mazda say that the color coating on white vehicles is typically thicker than when other colors. In this instance, however, a newly discovered pigment allowed Mazda to lower the color layer's thickness by 30% compared to the Snowflake White Pearl Mica.
Mazda was able to reduce the quantity of material required, bringing the reflective layer's thickness down to 0.5 microns, or about 7% of the thickness of a typical reflective coating. The clear lacquer is applied as the last step.
This luxurious Rhodium White Premium paintwork will be available this summer on the new CX-60 for the European market, according to Mazda. It will be designated mostly for the company's Large Product family of cars.
