Mahindra Thar Earth Edition Is A Desert-Inspired Luxury For Off-Road Enthusiasts
by AutoExpert | 28 February, 2024
With a new special edition, the well-liked Mahindra Thar Earth Edition—India's answer to the Jeep Wrangler—became even more attractive. This Indian off-roader adds distinctive stylistic cues inspired by the desert.
Only the satin matte "Desert Fury" tint is available for the Earth Edition, which also has black Mahindra logos, profile decals, and unique Earth badging on the B-pillars. Desert Fury grille slits stand out against the black surround. For increased durability, it is equipped with all-terrain tires on 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, cozy synthetic leather seats feature a dunes-inspired design. There's a unique VIN plate on the dashboard, and the temperature vent inserts match the exterior color.
A 2.0-liter gasoline engine with a turbocharger that generates 150 horsepower or a 2.2-liter diesel engine with a manual or automatic transmission that produces 130 horsepower are the two options available. For improved off-road capabilities, the Mahindra Thar Earth Edition is exclusively offered with 4WD.
With prices ranging from Rs 15.40 lakh ($18,573) to Rs 17.60 lakh ($21,227), depending on the engine type, the Mahindra Thar Earth Edition is still a compelling choice when contrasted with the Jeep Wrangler, which is almost four times more expensive in India.
Despite only being offered as a two-door model since 2010, a longer five-door variant is on the horizon, with a range of powertrain options anticipated for launch in mid-2024.
