This year's Tokyo Auto Salon is in full swing, and Lexus has chosen it to unveil the NX PHEV Off-Road concept. It's based on the 2022 NX 450h+ and includes a matte black grille and door handles, as well as 17-inch wheels covered in beefy BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, giving it a distinctive outward look.
The exterior is finished in Iron Oxide, and gray details on the mirrors, window frames, and emblems provide a unique touch. Roof rails and a matching cargo rack in matte black complete the look. Few specifics were provided by Lexus.
A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an 18.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and two electric motors make up the NX 450h+'s plug-in hybrid engine. The US-spec crossover now has a combined output of 302 horsepower (222 kW / 306 PS) and can go 37 miles (60 km) on electricity.
Lexus also presented the ROV (Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle) idea, which was debuted late last year, in addition to the NX PHEV Off-Road concept. It's a tough side-by-side with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that functions on compressed hydrogen.
