Last Chance To Own A Legend: Caterham's Final Edition 485 And 485 CSR
by AutoExpert | 10 May, 2024
Caterham made its 485 and 485 CSR Final Editions available to European customers. Special external and internal details will distinguish the Final Editions from the limited editions that will be available. Caterham must withdraw the 485 and 485 CSR, the two most powerful Euro 6-compliant Sevens, due to the introduction of the more stringent Euro 7 emission standards.
A 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ford Duratec engine with a naturally aspirated design provides 225 horsepower and 151 pound-foot of torque in both vehicles.
With a limited-slip differential and five-speed manual transmission, you can go from 0-62 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds and reach a high speed of 139 miles per hour. The 485 CSR FE differs from the 485 FE in that it has a bigger diameter wheel, a more advanced push-rod inboard front suspension, and a completely independent rear suspension. The latter is only available in the large chassis configuration.
A comparison with the regular option reveals that the big chassis is 7.1 inches longer, 9.1 inches broader, and 1 inch higher. Premium exterior hues, unique glossy black lines, and badging are the visual hallmarks of the Final Edition cars. The 485 rides on smaller 13-inch Black Apollo alloys, while the 485 CSR boasts 15-inch Vulcan wheels. There are numbered plaques, as well as Final Edition stitching on the inside. Sport Hex Black leather with Alcantara inserts, a carbon dashboard, and a completely carpeted floor adorn the interior.
Introducing the Seven 485 Final Edition is a touching and emotional time for both Caterham and its consumers, according to Olivier Jouanne, the company's European Territory Manager. However, for one of our most recognizable European models, this is the last chapter. On the other side, customers may now have the opportunity to drive a piece of Caterham history—the final normally aspirated Seven—because there are only a limited number of these cars available.
According to Jouanne, Caterham will be able to concentrate on "expanding our European product offering" with the 485's cancellation, freeing up more manufacturing and technical resources. Japan will receive 10,485, FE units, while Europe will receive 60,485 FE and 25,485 CSR FE units from the limited supply. Those interested can now place an order for the Final Edition model. Prices begin at €67,495 ($72,452) prior to taxes.
