Lamborghini Unveils 100% Electric Concept at Monterey Car Week: A Glimpse into the Future of Supercars
by AutoExpert | 10 August, 2023
Lamborghini is making an electrifying statement with a "100% electric" concept, set to make its global debut during Monterey Car Week, next week. Known as the "first prototype of our fourth series production car," anticipation is building around this groundbreaking reveal.
Details about the appearance and powertrain of this new all-electric car remain under wraps, but speculation hints that it might be a 4-seat GT, aligning with recent rumors. The EV concept would be Lamborghini's second fully electric model following the Terzo Millenio and would join other 4-seat concepts like the Estoque and Asterion.
According to CEO Stephan Winkelmann, this electric Lamborghini will be built on a shared EV platform, utilizing components from Volkswagen Group's in-house brands, including Bentley and Porsche. This means the upcoming car won't ride on an exclusive Lamborghini platform.
Lamborghini's journey towards electrification doesn't stop there. Other models, such as the Urus, are not expected to go fully electric immediately but are likely to embrace hybrid technology soon. Furthermore, replacements for the Urus and Huracan are projected to feature plug-in-hybrid powertrains by 2024.
While the chances of an all-electric Urus remain low, they are not non-existent. By 2029, the new Urus generation might be fully electric.
Monterey Car Week kicks off with full force on Wednesday, August 16. Still, the dazzling Lamborghini concept will steal the spotlight during Car Week, which opens its lawn doors to guests on Friday, August 18.
