KAMAZ intends to launch a completely autonomous truck!

The Russians will again amaze the automotive industry, and in this respect, the Russian press announced that next week will give start the test for the first KAMAZ unmanned (autonomous). The announcement was made in an official report from the Russian company KAMAZ.
The tests will take place on a closed road from Noginsk and creating this KAMAZ was possible with the help of the OJSC "KAMAZ", OJSC "Wiest Group" and Cognitive Technologies. This is stated in the official report of the manufacturer. As explained in the company, the installation was completed in early May.
The components on KAMAZ-5350 were installed the series needed for testing different driving modes autonomously: radar, LIDAR (an active optical sensor that emits laser beams toward the target during traffic), video, communications, and on-board computers. The unmanned KAMAZ has been equipped with a joystick, with which it will be possible to drive the vehicle if the desired takeover.
Also planned self-manned testing only on information from cameras and GPS signals / Glonass, without a radar. The tests must show that the system can correctly determine the trajectories of moving away. The company also said that for more safety during the tests in the KAMAZ's booth will be a driver.
It is clear that, in accordance with the company's existing plans, the KAMAZ autonomous model should appear on public roads in the years 2025-2027.
