Jetour Unleashes the Stargazer: A Rugged Edition of the Traveler SUV
by AutoExpert | 31 January, 2024
Jetour launched a brand new version of the infamous Traveler SUV, known as Stargazer - or The Dragon Wing Edition.
The off-road-based edition is the debut creation of JMK’s new segment, with only 3.000 units reserved for the Chinese company. The Traveler is already a rugged-looking SUV, but the Stargazer lifts things even further.
The extras such as the retractable ladder on one side, the external storage compartment on the other, and the roof rack make the Chinese SUV look even more like the Land Rover Defender.
Among other add-ons are the protective covers for the taillights, the new front bumper with an integrated bull bar, and a redesigned storage compartment attached to the tailgate like a spare wheel holder.
The vehicle sports a set of 20-inch wheels shod in 255/55R20 all-terrain tires.
It is not certain if JMK laid its hands on Traveller’s suspension, but the widened wheels might raise the vehicle compared to its standard version.
Under the hood is a stock turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that fires 251 HP and 287 lb-ft of torque.
The power is passed on through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic to all four wheels supported by the XWD electronic system.
In its homeland, Jetour Traveller costs around 31.000 USD and is limited to 3.000 units. The standard Traveller version has a price that varies between 20.000 - 26.000 USD, depending on the chosen trim.
Stargazer is just the tip of the iceberg, as JMK’s division offers three other Traveller special editions (rainforest, mountaineering, and elite) before overtaking the rest of the Jetour model range.
According to Car News China, JMK’s adaptations will make the vehicles “more captivating, wilder, and more voguish.”
