Restomods for Ford Bronco and Toyota Land Cruiser are available from Icon 4x4, as is the Thriftmaster pickup for those who like something a little more traditional. New School Edition is a term used by the firm to describe this throwback pickup, which features some contemporary conveniences but retains its classic look.
The foundation for this Icon Thriftmaster truck is a 1952 Chevrolet Thriftmaster 3100. While the vehicle appears to be original, there are several unique features. The walnut wood that wraps the bed, for instance, was preserved using the Japanese technique Shu Sugi Ban, which involves charring the outside of the wood.
The body is painted in Porsche's Chalk White. The hue is enhanced by the black chrome accent. The truck is equipped with 18-inch forged wheels, which are visible behind the Brembo brakes. The vehicle is completely overhauled beneath the skin. It has a hand-built frame with separate four-wheel suspension and adjustable coilovers.
A 6.2-liter V8 crate motor from Chevy Performance E-Rod produces 440 hp (328 kW) and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm) of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. A Dana 60 nodular third member provides rigidity to the powertrain at the back end.
More black chrome can be seen on the knobs and even the bolts on the inside. The micro-sanded top-grade leather upholstery is simply amazing. The steering wheel is likewise covered in the same material. Unless you seek them, the contemporary facilities are mostly buried. The Pioneer 8600NEX sound system's screen is hidden under an adjustable, one-piece dash panel. Under the seats and on the dash, there is LED illumination. Backing up is made a bit simpler with a reverse camera.
